Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Classic Car Mechanic to join our team. This is an hourly position with performance bonus potential. Candidates with extensive experience in classic car restoration and repairs are preferred. However, we are also open to training motivated individuals with a strong mechanical foundation who demonstrate the potential to become a Top-flight classic car technician.
Key Requirements
To excel in this role, you must have a solid, hands-on foundation in classic car repairs and upgrades. This includes work on fuel injection systems, sub-chassis modernization, modern crate engine installations, and full resto-mod projects.
Success requires not only strong technical competency but also:
- The ability to accurately diagnose, repair, and estimate repair times on classic vehicles
- A strong work ethic and willingness to work hard and smart
- Self-motivation and the ability to produce high-quality results the first time
- Loyalty to the team and company values
Position Details
This is not a flat-rate position, nor a typical new-car dealership environment. You will primarily work on American vehicles from the 1950s through the 1990s. Due to the age and nature of these vehicles, strong experience and mechanical knowledge are essential.
While you will be expected to work primarily self-sufficiently, peer and management support is readily available when needed.
Typical Work Assignments
You will be responsible for full vehicle inspections, diagnosis, repair estimates, and complete project execution. A typical project might include:
- Performing a comprehensive inspection and test drive (e.g., on a 1969 Mustang)
- Documenting all findings and preparing a detailed repair/safety report
- Estimating required hours and submitting for customer approval
- Disassembling, rebuilding, and reinstalling components such as brakes, carburetors, differentials, cams, fuel systems, and more
- Completing all repairs to the highest quality standards within the approved time frame (or clearly communicating and justifying any additional time needed)
Compensation
Compensation is provided on an hourly basis for clock time, with an expected 40-hour work week. Overtime is paid as applicable. Saturdays and Sundays are generally not required.
In addition to your hourly rate, there is a weekly performance bonus based on billable work. Bonuses are accumulated and paid monthly. Payroll is bi-weekly.
Benefits
- Excellent PPO medical insurance (company pays 80% of the employee premium)
- 2 weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year, accruing after the first 30 days
- 6 paid holidays per year
- Additional benefits (supplemental insurance and 401k matching) are under consideration
Compensation level is dependent on your experience, technical knowledge, references, certifications (such as ASE Master), and overall fit for the role.
Additional Requirements
- Verifiable professional references
- Successful background check
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands of the job
Job Type: Full-time
If you are a dedicated, high-quality mechanic who takes pride in classic cars and wants to work in a supportive, non-flat-rate environment, we encourage you to apply.
