Too many people go looking for the same stuff they see at shows, overlooking great cars that are less familiar. Take this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 for example. Same underpinnings as a Chevelle, but with a different look, more luxury, a comfortable ride, and an upgraded drivetrain, it makes a lot more sense for a lot less money.
This is the ultimate driving Oldsmobile 442 powered by a stout 455 big block with aluminum heads, MSD ignition, headers and a 4-barrel carburetor. Paired with a 700-R4 overdrive transmission allows it to cruise on the highway with ease and keep the RPMs down. Equipped with a B&M Quicksilver shifter it allows you to slap through the gears making for an incredibly fun driving experience. The motor and transmission combination make for a great driver that can be driven anywhere reliably.
The body and floor pans are in excellent condition and well persevered. The body is razor straight and the white repaint quality is very high. The black vinyl top appears to be recently replaced and in great condition. Opening the door exposes the restored black vinyl bench interior with a wood grain dash board, factory gauges and the original style steering wheel to tie it all off. The undercarriage is lightly restored with mostly newer rubber, front steering components, upper control arm bushings and a fresh alignment.
